Scenes From the Trail

Yesterday, my wife, youngest son, and his girlfriend, took a day trip over to Laura S. Walker State Park in Waycross, Georgia.  The day was beautiful and we enjoyed our time Geocaching, picnicking, hiking, and we even found a bit of time to do some fishing (no luck though).   This wasn't our first visit to this park, rather, it was one that we had previously stated that we'd like to come back to and spend some more time.  Yesterday was that day.

We spent time Geocaching and hiking on the "Big Creek Trail", a 1.3 mile loop, and the "Lake Nature Trail", a .6 mile out and back.  And while neither trail is particularly demanding, in fact, I'd say they are both easy and family friendly, they both provide ample opportunity for observing unspoiled nature at its finest.  You must be prepared to see it, however, or there is much that you can miss.  My wife will attest to that, as she regularly commented to me, "how did you see that?".

Though not pictured, my son was also able to get a picture of the Eastern Indigo Snake, which is on the Federal Endangered Species list.

All in all, our trip to Laura S. Walker State Park was a great success.  In fact, I would most likely consider any trip to a State Park to Geocache, picnic, hike, fish, or just be alone with family and friends, a success.
