I Once Was a Dreamer: A Life Outside My Door Poem
I was inspired to write the following poem during our most recent vacation to the North Georgia Mountains. Particularly influential to me while writing this was my trip to the Byron Herbert Reece Farm and Heritage Center (Blairsville, Ga.), and the two nights of camping that we spent at Vogel State Park. Comments are welcome.
I Once Was a Dreamer
I
once followed a dream,
But not too far
Before it wrestled me to the ground.
And off it went
Beyond the stars;
Never again to be found.
Search as I did
'Twas neither here nor there-
A lesson it did teach.
I conceded my lot
To never again stare
For things beyond my reach.
But not too far
Before it wrestled me to the ground.
And off it went
Beyond the stars;
Never again to be found.
Search as I did
'Twas neither here nor there-
A lesson it did teach.
I conceded my lot
To never again stare
For things beyond my reach.

ReplyDeleteThanks Kim. I only wish that I could do it more often.
